FF Mitchler is participating in this years St. Baldricks fundraiser . He is asking for a small donation (if possible) to help reach his goal of $500 which will go to Cancer Research for children. Simply go to the website (St. Baldricks.org) and click on "Make a donation" then type in Len Mitchler (Donate on behalf of a participant) and check the box "Shavee". Then click on the BLACK box that says donate on behalf of "Len Mitchler" and it will ask you for your information.

Tell Him or Her to Vote YES on the PRICE AMENDMENT
TO EXTEND THE SAFER WAIVERS
Yesterday, the IAFF achieved a great victory when the U.S. House of Representatives voted to restore funding for the Assistance to Firefighters (FIRE Act) and Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant programs. Our victory was directly attributable to you – our members – who took the time to call their U.S. representatives and protest their plan to decimate these crucial grants. But we are far from finished.
The SAFER waivers, which allow fire departments to use grant funds to rehire or retain personnel, expired in Fiscal Year 2010. If they are not extended, fire departments will be unable to use SAFER funds to rehire laid-off workers, fill positions lost to attrition or prevent potential layoffs.
Influential members of Congress have indicated that they oppose the SAFER waivers, but we can defeat them.
Representative David Price (D-NC) has offered an amendment to extend the SAFER waivers for an additional year.
